Watch out if you are trying to use internet marketing and social media today to promote your company’s service or products online. There is a twitter virus on the loose! A hacker has apparently exploited some holes at the main Twitter.com site and will cause 3rd-party websites to pop up even when the user has done nothing but mouse over some blacked out text.
The virus will also make users “retweet” the virus to their followers thus spreading the virus uncontrollably. Because the virus redirects you to different websites and pages, it can be especially malicious.
Stay off twitter.com for the time being, but you can still use 3rd-party websites like Tweetdeck.

Apparently, a 17-year-old from Australia has claimed responsibility for the twitter virus and a Japanese developer actually reported the vulnerability to Twitter on August 14.
